Trevor Jackson of Charlesfield First, Scottish BordersTrevor Jackson

Trevor is the fourth generation of his family who have owned the land and farmed at Charlesfield. He expanded the farming land with the acquisition of the neighbouring Mainhill Farm in 1995, and converted the farm to the organic system in 1998. The farming operations at Charlesfield are fully accredited as organic with SOPA and NOP (USDA).

He has extensive experience of working with Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Borders Council to develop the derelict munitions factory at Charlesfield into the busy industrial estate it is today.

Trevor was educated at the Edinburgh Academy, Newcastle University and East of Scotland College of Agriculture. He is a past chairman of St Boswells Young Farmers and is a member of National Farmers Union and the SRPBA.

Trevor is passionate about his rugby, and has played with Melrose RFC at all levels and is now a member of the MRFC Committee working to market the club merchandise.

Trevor and his partner live with their three daughters at Charlesfield. He is active in the local community, formerly sitting on the St. Boswells Primary School Board and currently serving as a local Community Councillor in St Boswells.

 

Iain Mackinnon, Charlesfield FirstIain MacKinnon

Iain has more than 25 years of commercial experience. He has a broad working knowledge of contractual and corporate structures, development finance and creating professional teams bringing together relevant expertise to assist in project delivery.

Experience and expertise was gained initially in the legal profession both advising clients including J Sainsbury plc, Glenmorangie PLC, and the then major Scottish Banks and holding the position of managing partner of an Edinburgh West End commercial legal practice employing more than 100 people.

Since 1999 he helped create and fund projects whilst holding senior limited duration consultancy positions with The Miller Group Limited and Stewart Milne Commercial.

Iain was educated at Keil School, Dumbarton and the University of Dundee where he graduated MA, LLB, Dip. L.P. He retains membership of the Law Society of Scotland and the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet and is currently Chair of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Diabetic Treatment Trust.

Iain is married and lives in Edinburgh with his wife, two sons and two daughters.
